Terms and Conditions
We have changed our Terms and Conditions. Please review the updated terms below. If after reading this statement, you prefer not to continue using your My Case account, contact us at 1-833-777-2433 to close your account.
Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before registering for My Case; by registering for and using My Case, you are agreeing to these Terms and Conditions.
The Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB) allows registered users to use My Case, a secure, online, self-service portal, to send forms and documents to the IRB and to receive correspondence from the IRB.
Registration
To use My Case, you will first have to complete the My Case registration and ID verification process. Visit the My Case portal registration and submission of documents page for more information.
To register, you must ensure that the IRB has the most current contact information for you, including your mailing address, email address and cellphone number. If you do not provide complete and accurate information, you will not be able to register for My Case.
For the registration process, you will be required to show a My Case officer government-issued ID to verify your identity and provide an email address and cellphone number. Both your cellphone number and email address will be saved in your internal IRB profile. The email address will be used for My Case correspondence only.
During registration, you will be asked to confirm the cellphone number you provided to the My Case officer. You will then receive your access code by SMS/text message. This is a unique code issued by the IRB that is required to authenticate the identity of first-time users of My Case and to ensure the security and confidentiality of your personal information. The access code will expire after 24 hours and will become invalid after use. For subsequent visits to My Case, you will be able to log in using a sign-in partner or GCKey.
Once you have completed the registration process, you will be able to view your active cases in My Case.
Communication
By registering for My Case, you agree that the IRB will notify you at the email address provided when you have a new message from the IRB regarding an update to your My Case account. You will be able to see the message once you log in to My Case. The IRB may also email you about important changes to My Case. You must notify us if your email address changes, which you can do by clicking on My Profile in the left-hand menu of My Case.
Security
You must log out after using My Case. Your session will automatically time out after 30 minutes of inactivity. If you need more time, you can log in again.
You understand that your My Case account may contain information of a particularly sensitive nature that, if compromised, could cause serious injury to an individual, organization or government (Protected B). It is your responsibility to take precautions to help maintain your privacy by not sharing your log‑in credentials, your access code or other personal information with anyone. Your privacy, and by extension your client's privacy, may be compromised if you use an unsecured network or a public or multi-user computer to access My Case. It is your responsibility to verify the security of your computer and internet connection.
You are responsible for any access to or use of My Case using your log‑in credentials.
If you wish to deactivate your account, contact us.
The IRB may revoke your access to My Case at any time without notice or liability to you if we suspect that you have made unlawful or prohibited use of My Case or failed to comply with these Terms and Conditions.
