Terms and Conditions
By registering for and using My Case, you are agreeing to these terms and conditions.
The Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB) may revoke your access to My Case at any time for the following reasons:
- if we think that you have used My Case in an illegal or improper way; or
- if you do not respect these terms and conditions.
The IRB may do this without notice or liability to you, which means that it does not need to inform you first and that it is not legally responsible for any negative consequences.
Security
You must not share your My Case log-in credentials. My Case may contain personal or private information (classified as Protected B). Your privacy, and the privacy of other people appearing before the IRB, could be put at risk if you use an unsecure location, an unsecured network or a public or multi-user computer to access My Case or if you leave your computer unattended. It is your responsibility to check the security of your computer and Internet connection. See the My Case User Guide for more information.
Communication
You must let the IRB know if your email address changes. The IRB uses the email address you provide in My Case to send any new notifications to your account or to tell you when there are important changes to My Case.
The IRB encourages use of electronic methods for submitting documents. Make sure to check your My Case portal account regularly for the latest documents and updates to your file. The IRB sends physical mail only in special circumstances.
Limitations of liability
The IRB may access your account to perform system maintenance, which could include troubleshooting, testing, and technical support, among other things.
You understand and accept that the IRB is not responsible for any losses or damages that may result from:
- the use of the information available in your account; or
- any restrictions, delays, malfunctions or unavailability of your account.
Personal information collection statement
Personal information is collected under the authority of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and the related IRB rules. Any personal information collected by the IRB is protected under the Privacy Act. You have the right to request access to your personal information and to ask that your information be corrected.
Registering for My Case, and providing the information that is requested during the registration process, is voluntary. You may change your mind and decide to stop the registration process at any time.
